Hi, great job with this app, it save me a lot of time, But i dont know how to use as well, there are a lot of options, and i dont know how use them. Could you make in future a guide or tutorial to improve the use of overmix ? And the last one, If i can merge 2 images by example with light gradient, are any choice to blur the different of colour between two images ? Thanks and regards, sorry if my English isn’t correct

Rest assured, most of them aren’t that important. If the result looks fine, you don’t need to touch them.

I have considered doing a video presentation, where I could demonstrate the most common use-cases. However as only a handful of people have showed interest since the start of the project, I have not felt like putting in the effort to do so. If more people become interested, I will definitively do either that, or some other form for guide/help to get them started. (And perhaps actually make the interface user friendly ;) )

For now, feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. And yes, you can blur the images together by using Alpha masks as I just explained in the following comment:

Ok,all improves are welcome, For now i will try alpha masks, Another question, if a load some images, and align and draw..if i do some modification .. then nothing happens and i need to restart the program.. or i do something bad ?
I think would be great some like start guide, or just user guide,
At the beginning the program isn’t friendly,it may cause lost interest on it. Even if someone fully interest on it,if he cant know how to use it, he would drop it.
If you need Spanish translator,i would help as i can, Regards!

Normally you should just be able to click “Draw” and it should update the changes. However it is an old release and it was broken in the past, so it might be affected. I will not be able to push out a new release until I get back from my parents however in about 2 weeks. (I’m on Linux computer currently.) For now, clicking “Clear” and adding the images again should work, without loosing your current options.

I tried documenting all the options, and you can find the result on the github wiki: https://github.com/spillerrec/Overmix/wiki
      Some tutorials might come later.

By laziness ,i don’t write, if you continue updating you helpfully app, i would like you improve some things, i would like that program remember the folder where you’d saved one image, and the relative position in the screen. and with Japanese characters overmix crash :/. Regards

    • Spiller says:

      Don’t be lazy, I’m forgetful ; )
I have made a new build containing a half year of fixes, which you can find on Github: https://github.com/spillerrec/Overmix/releases
As a bonus, it should now both remember the folder you used for saving images and the window position. File loading and saving should now use unicode so Japanese characters should work, but if you still have issues please provide a precise description of what to do to recreate the crash.

I have some test samples that you might want to have a look at.

    https://mega.co.nz/#!GYBhmbCa!BjuJLShzyNf43ItdK7nZst2u0P1QIUsngZeucorcLp8

Both are vertical stitches, but always come out as blurry messes for me unfortunately.

Also, thanks for the update. Hopefully more improvements will come :)

    • Spiller says:

They are not normal vertical stitches, as the background and foreground moves at different speeds. Overmix cannot align those properly, as it assumes everything in the image moves at constant speed.

I have known of that issue even from before starting on Overmix, as these can be fairly tricky to stitch by hand as well. I have experimented with ideas on how to separate the background and foreground (in order to later match them up properly), but progress stalled as I lacked the proper back-end in Overmix for testing my ideas. That back-end is planned for version 0.3, and most of it is already done.
So this is definitively an issue I want to solve, but it might not happen before I release v0.3, and I don’t know yet if I can get it to work well.

Hm? My comments don’t seem to be showing up. Could they have been accidentally marked as spam?

Just to clarify, I posted some links to a few examples where Overmix failed to successfully produce a stitch. Hopefully it’ll help you improve the program.
